Taps & Traps

Taps and Traps brings together two masters of rhythm: tap legend Heather Cornell and Canadian percussionist Jesse Stewart. Together, they weave a spellbinding tapestry of textures of sound and movement, creating a sense of wonder and curiosity in the minds of listeners.  Of their premiere performance, Peter Hum of the Ottawa Citizen wrote: "Stewart, a connoisseur of obscure musical instruments as well as a jazz drummer……performing on a triple flute, a waterphone, and a handpan at times, inserting folkloric and even unique sounds into the mix. Cornell may have been limited to using different shoes and surfaces to make sounds, but she too was ingenious in generating not only rhythms but textures too.
